This conference will bring together leading academics, policymakers, and industry experts to explore the evolving landscape of international trade. As global markets confront new challenges and opportunities, we will examine how technological innovation, regulatory shifts, and geopolitical changes are reshaping cross-border exchange.

  • Mind the Break-Up: Trade Policy Shocks and Firms’ Resilience – Holger Breinlich (University of Surrey)
  • Sea of Investment: ‘Titanic’ of International Investment Law meets ‘Iceberg’ of the UNCLOS – Achyuth Anil (University of Sussex)
  • Mind The Gap: Net Zero Standards, Trade and Emerging EU Regulation – Emily Lydgate (University of Sussex)

Each session will include the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions around these topics. Additionally, there will be a multi-panellist plenary session followed by a keynote speech by Swati Dhingra, Associate Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee for the Bank of England.

We are holding the conference in honour and memory of Jim Rollo, founding member of the UKTPO, and a valued friend and colleague, to commemorate his work and the lasting impact he had in our lives.
